About Us

Despite what is reflected in the outdated photo, we are a family of six, who moved to Bentley in 2018. Coming from at least eight generations of dairy  farmers, a love for agriculture and producing milk, runs strong in our blood. We love the lifestyle that robot-dairy farming naturally encourages, and the flexibility it offers us. Whether we are outside enjoying the beautiful surroundings that Blindman Valley has to offer, or working hard on the farm, we are happy to be together, doing what we love!

Why A2?

Like all mammals, cows used to only produce a protein in milk, which is called A2 Beta Casein. Overtime, due to natural and selective breeding, there was a  mutation in dairy cows that changed the Beta Casein protein expression. Most Holsteins are affected by this change in the DNA. This mutated protein is called A1, for short. Often, individuals who struggle with symptoms which may present themselves as Lactose Intolerance, find that they are alternatively able to safely consume milk that contains only A2 Beta Casein.

In recent decades, scientists have been able to determine which cows produce what kind of protein by looking at their DNA. We are now able to test every individual cow and calf, in our herd, to see if she produces the A2 Casein protein! This is exactly what we have done to make this product safely available to you!

The intrigue with A2 milk began when one of our family members struggled to consume dairy products for many years. Eventually she gave up consuming dairy completely for four years, because it was not worth feeling so ill all the time. After finally trying some A2 milk, it became evident that her “Lactose Intolerance” was really a sensitivity to A1 milk and not Lactose! She has continued to safely consume A2 dairy products, including A2 butter, A2 cream, A2 yogurt, and any homemade baking with A2 milk, for 3 years!
